What New Media is About

New Media News is something entirely new. It's two things in one: what's hoped to be a reliable news site filling the huge void there is for accurate, informative news told free of the progressive bias of mainstream media, and a completely unique and original way to talk about politics and the issues behind it — a weapon unlike any other in that — as well as just a place to laugh and have fun talking about whatever.

There are three core ideas to the site: news, specifically, how it's done here; new types of content entirely unique to this site; and what are called Boxes, which are basically portals for intensive coverage and commentary on important ongoing news stories and issues.

News free of the usual bias, but credible too

The idea for this site came on the realization that there is this massive untapped demand for news untainted by progressive bias. It's something the public has always craved and the need has only grown given the increasingly insane nature of that bias. Conservative media though, frankly, has always sucked. It's never managed to be anything but news for conservatives, nakedly partisan. That particular challenge is easily overcome.

Just give the people straight, honest news. Provide the best coverage and analysis possible. That's the intent of this site. In furtherance of this goal there's a strict separation of all content/links on this site between news and opinion (or anything like it), the former marked by a blue highlight below and the latter a red one. The purpose of this system is to maintain the sanctity of the straight news side of things as well as possible, to have that alongside the content you'd expect of a site that makes no secret of having an agenda.

The other problem, competing with the size and resources of major news media, is a little more challenging. The original intent here was to run a full-fledged semi-daily news site, but that's too big a job (for now at least). We can still manage to get a foothold in the news business — the importance of which can't be overstated — by focusing our efforts on only certain areas, where the mainstream media does the worst job and our capabilities are best suited. Expect intensive coverage of major news stories, in-depth reporting, analysis, and commentary on major ongoing news stories and issues (in Boxes, explained below), and the occasional original news article.

Note that this site uses a system where some links bring up a pop-up/modal box (shown by the cursor changing) that allows for multiple links to be provided for a single news story, as well as further context or commentary.

Content that's useful, presented in new ways

This site was built from the ground up after scrapping all the conventions of existing news media and content built around exactly what point needed to be made, just how it needed to be said. Two big features come from this: Content Types entirely original to this site, as well as unique web page designs developed specifically to feature this original content. One example of this is the multi-image type that was inspired by Twitter where users can post up to four images per tweet. On this site it serves to show off content based on multiple large images.

Explanations of some of the more interesting Content Types follow below.

Files

Files are based off the idea that there are things – phenomena, trends, etc. – that to simply show, make powerful points all on their own. They can be straightforward lists of evidence or accountings of particular incidents that serve the same purpose. Files are a simple but powerful type of content that make up some of the evidentiary basis of the site.

Recaps

Recaps review an important event or incident for the purpose of having a useful reference on them. They're coverage isn't so different from what you get from long-form journalism, but the subjects tackled are useful to us and the content geared specifically towards that purpose. One such example is a review of the James Damore-Google controversy.

Proofs

Proofs tackle some of the biggest lingering questions in politics and are intended to provide the definitive answers for them. Issues are addressed as thoroughly and rigorously as possible to succeed where others have failed in putting these questions to rest.

Boxes and the bundling of content

Information on its own is useful, information packaged together towards some higher purpose is better. One of the core ideas of this site is to gather together these things into what are called Boxes, effectively subsites within this site. On the front page and everywhere (hey, we like icons)

At peak potential these Boxes would cover subjects like the Russian invasion of Ukraine better than any other single source, with room for intensive commentary to boot. A few of the Boxes on offer already are: The Media, where we build the ultimate case against it; Social Media & Tech Censorship, attacking an important issue under or poorly covered elsewhere; and Covid, once a source for regular news coverage but now just a place to make the points that still need to be made about it. The full list can be found in the main menu.
