On Joe Rogan and Spotify
We're all as bewildered as Joe Rogan on DMT on this.
Nobody just a few years ago would have expected Joe Rogan, the UFC and Fear Factor host, and famously chill, apolitical guy, to be such a lightening rod for criticism, but such is the increasingly intolerant and censorious nature of the regime.
First off, this is definitely censorship. The musicians who've pulled their content from Spotify out of protest of the presence of Joe Rogan's podcast there have done so specifically to pressure them to drop or restrict him somehow. That's why they're doing it. The hysteria the media can whip up over any subject of its choosing has led to what may be a new form of censorship, one that's been described as "lateral censorship," but it's absolutely the same in purpose and effect.
In case it's unclear, the targeting of Rogan has been very unfair. There are huge double standards on these things. You can mislead and lie all you want on the pro-lockdown/establishment side and face zero consequences. Some examples that come to mind: almost everything said on masks is scientifically unfounded, the drastic variance in risk by age is frequently covered up, and declines in cases are routinely attributed to this or that measure when it's actually common seasonal or other patterns.
Rogan is accused of spreading anti-vax propaganda, though it doesn't seem like he's said that much on the subject, and as his defenders have pointed out, he has had those with different views on his show, like Dr. Sanjay Gupta. The freedom to have any significant platform and not follow establishment messaging is closing more and more. That it's even come to Joe Rogan now is shocking.
This all sucks. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's tired of being constantly told who I can and cannot listen to.
